It is possible to be friends after a split-up if the relationship was really friendship based and you both discovered that later on. However, if it was a romantic whirl, then no, it's not a good idea to remain friends because one of the two involved always has deeper feelings and it would be like pouring salt into an open wound. The person that loves the other the most is really hoping that during the friendship things could change, or, at least they would know what they are up too and whom they are dating. It's really time to move on and just wish them good luck. There is certainly someone out there for most people that is worth waiting for. Don't sell yourself short. Good luck Marcy
