Shampoo as usual, rinse and use condition if you like. It is healthy for the hair and gets all that sticky junk out of it. Don't do it more than once a week! * Coat it in baby oil; cover in a plastic cap; sleep in it and shampoo out in the morning. * Today I dyed my hair "dark brown" which really means jet black. I was horrified and have been searching the net all day trying to figure out how to fade it. The most talked about and the one that seems to have the best results is just using ordinary dish washing liquid instead of shampoo, using it a lot and heat fades hair dye, so when you shower do it with the hottest water you can without burning yourself. Im a hairstylist and i run into this all the time. buy a claifing shampoo, professionsl products r gonna work better. wash ur hair with it and leave it in for 10 min, repeat a few times then condition with a deep hydrating conditioner. repeat for a few ti mes you will notice a difference first time.

∙ 16y agoYou'll have to bleach the parts you want hilighting before you dye them so that the colour actually shows up. It's best to get it professionally done because they'll do it properly and you won't have to risk messing it up. x

∙ 13y agoHighlights are done by bleaching the color (& nutients) out of your hair. So yes, you should be able to GO TO A SALON and get the results you want. Never attempt highlights at home!

I didnt have my hair higlighted but i had blonde chunks put in and later on in the day i had the hair around the blonde dyed black/brown which actually looks quite nice. My hair isn't damaged but if you put the dye over the highlights it should be fine as well. Hope this helped :) - Katie

You can put a rinse over a color after you have dyed it black. However ask yourself will this temporary rinse show up on top of my black hair? Black is the darkest that hair can go. If so proceed. If it has been dyed black then a black temporary rinse can help freshen the color back up. The best thing to do is wait until the black starts to fade or grow off. There maybe be some colors that may put off a color in natural lightning.
