if your keyboard has an usb port, connect it, if it has a midi port, buy a midi to usb converter, connect it and start ableton. add a device to your project using the panel on the left. configure that device, click the note sign which turns into red after you click. you cn find that button on the device you created. when you play , you should be hearing the sound of the device you created.
be careful, you should connect your keyboard before you run the software.
You might also use the "MIDI" button up top right...Press it and everything should turn blue...click on certain items on the screen that you would like to control with your keyboard and then press the key on the keyboard you would like to map that function to. click on the "MIDI" button again and you should be able to use that function of your keyboard
Yes. You do not need a keyboard at all. If you really want to play notes in realtime you can choose in the Preferences to use your computer keyboard as a keyboard. The best advice is go through the lessons in Ableton, read the manual and watch some tutorial vids online
Skrillex uses Ableton Live and FL Studio. During his live performances, he uses Ableton and a Macbook Pro. To produce music in the studio, his software choices range from FL Studio to Ableton to Logic Pro.

Read/watch a LOT of tutorials online (Tom Cosm has some good ones up). Get a full more recent version of Ableton. Muck around and experiment/play for a really long time and you will start getting there.
Picture Ableton Live and LIve(Suite) Being the same to start with. Now with the suite you get a whole host of add ons. An entire sound library. Some of which (Not all) you will find extremely useful.

Ableton live 8
On a retail version of the software. Support developers!
Well what I use is Ableton live 8.
after you download the ableton 8 crack, it's supposed to have at least an ableton .exe file + the crack file (named authorization ..something). What you need to do is replace the original ableton.exe in your install directory with the new .exe - you delete the old .exe & put there the new one. That's located in c/programfiles/ableton/program. after you do this, take the crack file & drop it in the c/program files/ableton/program folder and after u do that, do not try to overwrite the ableton.exe with it. just put it normally in the folder and double-click it. This should do the authorization. NOTE: You MUST have the crack for exactly the SAME version of ableton live 8 ( for example, if you own an Ableton live 8.1.1, your downloaded crack must be an Ableton 8.1.1 , if it's 8.2.1 or 8.0.1 it won't work.
yep.. get asio4all though
