There's a whole lot to it, actually, and real scientific. But basically, you can get AM radio from a distance at night, and only local during the day, because the straight waves of radio bounce from the ionosphere back to earth. The ionosphere is composed differently, depending on if it's day or night. When it's nighttime, the ionosphere reflects much better, thus you can hear stations from farther away.
Yes. They can. but not always.
FM signals travel in a straight line (Line of sight). Under very special conditions the FM signal can bounce the troposphere and be received very far away. This is known as "skip". It is very rare to have a good skip. In very rare instances, the signal can be carried quite far by two ionized layers of the atmosphere in what is known as tropospheric ducting. FM Signals can travel halfway around the world, but can only be received in a small area and for a very short time.
AM signals also travel line of sight. However at night the AM signal usually bounces off of the ionosphere and can be received reliably very far away (this signal is called a sky wave). For this reason most AM stations in the US and Canada must reduce their transmission power at sunset so they do not interfere with radio stations in other distant cities. AM signals can also go over mountains and be received on the other side of a mountain from a transmission tower due to another phenomenon called a ground wave. The ground wave follows the contours of the terrain over moderate distances. This also adds to the ability of AM to reach areas where an FM signal would be blocked.

I don't know where you can find the internet radio stations. You can call in to the local radio stations and they should have that information for you.
The number of TV is ONE, radio stations are currently more than 10
There are many radio stations that play music from the 60s. Examples of radio stations that play music from the 60s includes Live365 Internet Radio and the 60s Radio at TuneIn.

The am stations might be too far away, the car's radio might be only able to pick up FM stations, there might be a lot of static in the atmosphere. There might be a lot of high mountains nearby that prevent picking up any am stations. It might be late at night and the nearby am stations have switched off for the night.

...AM stations transmit hundreds of miles at night. This extended transmission is possible is because of the ionosphere -- one of the layers of the atmosphere. It is called the ionosphere because when the http://wiki.answers.com/sun.htmrays hit this layer, many of the http://wiki.answers.com/atom.htmthere lose electrons and turn into ions.As it turns out, the ionosphere reflects certain frequencies of radio waves. So the waves bounce between the ground and the ionosphere and make their way around the planet. The composition of the ionosphere at night is different than during the day because of the presence or absence of the sun. You can pick up some radio stations better at night because the reflection characteristics of the ionosphere are better at night.

The ionosphere. You thought this would be amazing to people? Perhaps you meant something else there, ShortWave.
Because large corporations made most radio stations use similar
It depends on the wavelength. Some travel further during the day and others at night. It mostly has to do with the presence or absence of the sun and the ionosphere. At night the characteristics of the ionoshpere help bounce shorter wavelengths, like those of AM radio and short-wave radio bands, and some can even circle the Earth.
The most popular online radio stations are Pandora, Live365 and AOL Radio. There are also downloadable online music programs that allow you to stream live radio stations.
