Justin was in a singing competition just for fun. He put videos of the competition on YouTube for his friends and family because they couldn't watch the competition. He started getting millions of hits and he was found by his manager, Scooter. Scooter flew Justin out to Atlanta and by chance he met Usher there but wasn't able to sing for him. When Usher watched the videos he flew Justin back out to Atlanta where he sang for Usher. Usher wanted to sign him but a week later so did Justin Timberlake. They got into a bidding war over it and Usher won. So now Justin is signed to Usher.

When Justin was 12 he entered a singing competition for fun and it was called Stratford Idol (in Canada) and he won 2nd place so him and his mom started posting videos up on YouTube for friends and family that couldn't make it to see, then other people would start watching his videos then the views went from 100s to 1000s to 100 000s to 1000000s, then scooter Braun was working on something with Akon and he was searching for something on the internet then he came across this video of Justin singing on YouTube and he was like "oh man this kid is good" so he tried to call them and he couldn't get in contact with them so he tried to get in contact with everyone that knew Justin, he tried to get in contact with Justin's mom's (Pattie) top friends on MySpace, his school and even his great aunt that Justin has never even met , so then scooter called kept calling them. So then Pattie (Justin's mom) called Scooter back from a private number just to shut him up and it turns out he was a good guy and they ended up talking on the phone for 2 hours. Later on scooter flew Justin out to Atlanta and then they were on there way to a studio to meet some people then they Accidental saw Usher and Justin ran up to him (since has a big fan) and was like "Usher I love your songs! Do you want me to sing you one?" Since Usher meets so many people every day that asks him the same question... Usher was like "Ah... just come inside little buddy its cold out" and he blew him off in the politest way he could, Then a week later Usher got to see Justin's video then Usher was like "Oh my goodness what did I just pass up?" So then Scooter flew Justin back to Atlanta again where he met Usher again then and he heard Justin sing and Usher wanted to sign Justin right then and there. But before Justin got signed by Usher, Justin Timberlake also wanted to sign Justin, so there was some competition between Usher and Justin Timberlake but in the end Justin Bieber chose Usher because Island Def Jam was backing Justin up and he really liked Usher he looked up to him his whole life so yea that's about it.
