Five years before his death, Ravel (1875-1937) received a head injury, that caused part of his brain to deflate, as a result of a motorbike accident. This began to cause some difficulty in his being able to compose music. Towards the end of 1937, he had experimental brain surgery where they attempted to re-inflate with serous fluid. He woke briefly called for his brother from the surgery and immediately went into a coma and died. he was aged 62
He was buried with his parents in Paris.
