Billie Joe Armstrong (lead guitarist, lead singer) was always involved in music. His father was a jazz musician, and when Billie was 5 he sang while his dad played the drums. He recorded his 1st song called Look for Love when he was 5, and he sang for ill patients at hospitals. His father gave him his first guitar (blue stratocaster) before he died of cancer. Then he wrote his 1st song when he was 14 called Why do you want him, with his band members Mike Dirnt (Bass) and John Kiffner (Drums). Then Billie Droped Out of school a day before his birthday to spend time with his band sweet children. He played gigs at his moms "restaurant" she owned. Then the drummer left the band because he thought it wasn't going anywhere, to go to college. Sucks for him. They picked up another drummer who played for a local band called the lookouts. Then after the album Kerplunk, they got signed by Reprise Records and Released The amazing album Dookie in 1994.
