They broke up in 1990 just after their 'Appetite For Destruction' album. A great album. but Slash (the guitarist) is doing a solo career and frequently does singles with other artists.
No; they never 'broke up'. The 'classic Guns' period is generally cited as being 86-90; the band remained steady except for the addition of Dizzy Reed on keyboards and the substitution of Matt Sorum for Steven Adler on drums. In 90, Izzy Stradlin left soon after Use Your Illusions was released, which spelled the beginning of the end. Guns managed to get a covers album out before the revolving door started following the gradual departures of Slash, Duff and Sorum. Those three are currently in Velvet Revolver, with Slash guesting on albums and Duff touring with his solo project, Loaded.
