That answer couldn't be more wrong.

The Bee Gees got their name for the two letters B & G which is what everyone called Barry Gibb (BG) However...not wanting to make it sound like he was the most important of the trio...they made it known that BG stood for "Brothers Gibb" They added the "ee" to the B and the G so it would look like a band name...rather than just the letters BG.
