Scorpions usually care for their you during the first and sometimes second molt, called instars. Baby scorpions are called Scorplings. When the mother is caring for her young, she can become very aggressive, and may, as a result, attack anything in her vicinity. She may mistake her children for a threat and eat them. In less common circumstances, the female may be stressed too her limit and begin eating the Scorplings as they are born.

Scorpions do not lay eggs. The young scorpions are born alive and climb onto the mother's back. She carries them around for about two weeks, when they have their first molt and can take care of themselves.Molt = when their skin splits and they climb out of it, then they stretch out in their soft new skin until it hardens up. Then they wear it for a while until they get too big and molt again.
