How do get up the lavender tower?

First, you must defeat team rocket in Celadon and Saffron cities, and you will acquire the Silph Scope, which lets you identify the ghosts (Gastlys). When you go up the stairs on the last floor, you will battle a ghost Marowack. You cannot catch it-- many people have tried. You must defeat it in battle to put its soul to rest, then you may go into the final floor, which has numerous Rocket grunts. You must defeat each one until you get to Mr Fuji at the end. He will take you back to his house and you will acquire the Pokeflute, which lets you awaken the Snorlax that sleeps in the road.
