The only requirement is to give your life to Jesus Christ. If you pray to God and admit your sins, knowing that Jesus died for them, you are a Christian. Churches are full of people that can help you as you learn more, but the only requirement is that admission.

We have a Heavenly Father who loves to give good gifts to His children. The best gift you could ever receive is yours for the asking - eternal life! We can't earn it, and none of us deserve it.

You are a sinner. Plain and simple.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

For your sins, you deserve death.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:9-10 If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Jesus died in our place and offers us eternal life instead of the death we deserve.

What a gift! If you want that kind of gift, here's how to get it:

  • Pray this prayer (or one similar - it's not the words that matter, it's the sincerity of your heart). Dear Father, I'm sorry for trying to live my life my own way. I've been wrong. I'm sorry for my selfish lifestyle, and I confess my sins to You. Will You forgive my sins? II want to live for You, Jesus. I believe You died for my sins so I wouldn't have to. I also believe You conquered death and will someday judge the entire world. I accept Your forgiveness and Your gift of eternal life. I commit my whole life to You, Jesus. Please help me to grow spiritually and become a solid and strong Christian.
  • Start living for Jesus. Decide to turn away from things that don't glorify Him. You'll still blow it from time to time. But when you do, stop and seek His forgiveness and continue living for Him. Before you turn on that TV, listen to that song, think about Phillipians 4:8. (NIV) Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. If you know in your heart those lyrics and that movie isn't appropriate, get rid of it. Of course, you will have temptation and sometimes you may fall. But, remember Jesus forgives you. (Of course, that doesn't mean go do whatever you want.)
  • Get involved in a church. Ask your pastor to baptize you as a special testimony of your new life in Christ. (Note - Going to church doesn't make you a Christian)
  • If you don't have a Bible that you understand, think about getting a student Bible - one with lots of graphics, helps and explanations. A NIV Bible might work. You can view The Bible online at places like Biblegateway.com. Remember, reading your Bible is your guidebook to life.

Becoming a Christian isn't all that very hard. Just pray and accept the invitation Jesus gave for you. Becoming a Christian is a very good thing to consider. go to:

Some believe there are several ways, like attending a local church or registering yourself to the church of England, and then being baptized. That is a way to join a church, but not to become a Christian. Even then, most pastors will ask if you have accepted Jesus as your Savior.
