Strumming is where the music you make becomes YOUR signature music. No matter how hard you try to duplicate someones strumming you won't be able to do it. And the same goes for people trying to duplicate your strumming. Up and down strums are mixed to give a certain beat. If you constantly went in one direction, your wrist would tire out in minutes.

∙ 13y agoLearn what the note values of the funny black dots on a sheet of music. Without learning to read music. Giving the notes the correct value of time will get you to the groove. There are drum tabs available for a lot of songs.

∙ 13y agoIt is a bit tough. Some of them have it marked in arrows up and down. Others are expecting a standard four beat strum. Some sites will have a variety of strum patterns you can experiment with and chose the one that works best with the song you are playing.
