You can date them by the letter prefix on guns made before 1969. From 1969-72 the first two digits were the year of mfg. From 1973 on the first two digits subtracted from 2000 will tell you what year it was made. Letter codes are: B-1939-41 c-46 d-47 e-48 f-49 g-50 h-51 j-52 k-53 l-54 m-55 n-56 p-57 r-57-58-59 t-60 u-61 v-62 w-63 y&z-64 AA-65 AB-66 AC-67 AD-68
No. In fact, I can't find any model 336 Marlins made prior to 1948. There should be a one or two letter code if it was manufactured between 1948 and 1968. I believe a Marlin with a serial number starting with 24 was made in 1976, but can't find my reference for that right now. I believe 1976 is the correct year. Here is a web site that I have used to get manufacture dates for my Marlin. http://oldguns.net/cgi-bin/f2f/f2f.pl?http://oldguns.net/q&a1_05.htm
To find the serial number on an HD radio, look at the back or bottom of the radio. In most cases, the serial number is marked SN and is located on a small plate or tag at the bottom or back of the radio.

No way of knowing without you providing a serial number to find the year of production of your Marlin model 39A.
The serial number should be on the lower tang, under the lever. Open the lever and look where it meets the tang.
Serial numbers were not required before 1968. Try looking on the receiver.
