One simple method is to drive the car and get it up to operating temperature right before you park it for the night. Then get a big piece of clean cardboard(or several taped together) and park the car on top of it for the night. In the morning there should be oil at or near the area of the leak. Then try to to pin point it. Another way is to add a special dye to the oil and use a UV light to trace it. Also, cleaning the bottom of the engine and then driving awhile will help show area of leakage. Hope this helps a bit. If the car is not leaking oil on the ground it is possible that it is burning it. This usually creates some sort of smoke and smell that is evident though.
its very common for 3.1 to leak for distrib housing
May be burning it slowly enough not to emit smoke Is the underside of the car oily wet looking? It maybe a oil pan gasket, some will not leak until on the highway. Look on the back end of car for oil spots.
an oil leak from the rear main and also the oil sending unit.
If it had no leaks it would not be loosing coolant. So therefore it does have a leak. It can be leaking in a spot where the coolant burns away before dripping on the ground. Also a blown head gasket is a possibility. Look for coolant in the oil. A heater core can leak. Do you smell coolant inside the car or are the windows fogging up or developing a film. You need to have a pressure test run on the cooling system and find this leak.
Sending unit has a leak. Just had to replace mine.
