How do you get carnatic swaras for Tamil movie songs?

It lies in the talent of the music director. When a music is composed in a particular raaga...say for example In the movie "sankarabaranam" for the song "saamajavaragamanaa" is based on the raagam "hindolam" which goes the way Sa ga ma dha ni sa (arohanam) / sa ni dha ma ga sa (avarohanam). If you carefully listen to the swaras there would not be any swara with the note "pa". But the heroine thinks of her man love and mistakenly sings the note "pa".

Also in the movie Annamacharya (nagarjuna ) the song "nigama nigamanthavar" if you carefully watch the swaras used... it goes like this

sa ga ma ga ma dha ma dha ni dha ni sa

ma ga dha ni sa ma ga sa...vividha virbhandamula...twine twine..;-)
