I would recommend resting for some time. If the pain is severe, then ice can help to stop lip swelling. After the cool-down period, getting blood to flow back into the lip to encourage healing is also a very good thing. Simple exercises like jogging or calisthenics can help to circulate blood (it's also good for your general health!)
Sometimes, using a lip balm such as Chop Saver can prove beneficial. It can be helpful when applied and left for a few hours.
