How do you kill spiders if you are afraid of them?

Personally, I take a broom and tape a couple of folded pieces of paper towel to the end of the handle. The paper towel should easily slide off (do not tape it to the broom). Sneakily get under the offending creature and carefully smoosh it in one fatal smoosh. Now you can slip the paper towel off into the garbage (hopefully with the deceased spider attached). If there are spider remains left on the ceiling, repeat the procedure with a new, then moistened paper towel. Disinfectant is good too during this step.
