Well, vk has many different styles within it. If you are going for something generic, then this should work:
make-up: black eyeliner that makes your eyes look bigger, mascara, dark eyeshadow of your choice along with lip gloss/lipstick (whichever you like better)
hair: straightened and layered. try to give it some volume with the straightener or something. tons of tutorials for this on YouTube.
clothing: black and accompanying color, unless you are doing oshare. chains, rips and patches, studs, goth-ish stuff. w/ fingerless gloves. gloves are cool. and lots of accessories (bracelets, necklaces, please don't pull out a noseband...)
what you want to look like is really up to you.... but this is kind of an outline for normal vk style.....
Yes. Ruki does have a substitute. Every well-known visual-kei in japan has one...If you do some research on google you'll find out most of these visual kei bands ' vocalist/one of the member have the same style/look as members of diffeent band.

Yes. they have JRock, JPop and Visual Kei.
Jrock is Japanese rock. There are many variations of the style, like visual kei. Visual Kei is a more Visual style of music, for example over the top costumes and make-up, it has long been a question as to whether this should be considered as a different music style. There is also Jpop which is just Japanese pop, again there is a Visual Kei branch off to this. If you want to research some artists here are a few- Gackt (mixture of pop and rock, mostly rock) Malice Mizer (Gothic Rock, Visual Kei) X Japan or X (old Rock, Heavy metal, Visual Kei, Ballads) Antic Cafe (Dance rock, in there own words, heavy pop-ish) Dir En Grey (Very Heavy Rock, Screamo) the GazettE (rock/Visual Kei) Mois Dix Moi (Gothic, Heavy rock Visual Kei) Alice Nine (pop) L'arc~en~ciel (Pop, Rock) hide (Rock) Miyavi (Rock, bit heavy) SuG (Oshare Kei/Pop) If you want more info, my email is tildy_rox@yahoo.com.au
The members of the Visual Kei J-metal band ExistÃ?Trace are all around their mid-twenties. They were born in the years 1987, 1988, and 1989.
The scene look started in the mid 00's; around 2005. It was influenced from Japanese fashion such as visual kei, decora kei, and oshare kei. It was also influenced by 80's fashion.
The Visual Kei movement is associated with Japan. It is used primarily by musicians, mainly heavy metal bands. It is a type of "look" used by these musicians, composing of make-up and hair designs.

Yes. they have JRock, JPop and Visual Kei.
They basically dress up more than cosplayers do... and by dressing up I mean more fancy clothes, make-up, and etc. Probably the most well known famous people that I know of that look visual kei is The GazettE band...
The names sound cool and you'd identify visual kei easily by the band name. Also, the band names tend to mean something when they're in French. For example, L'arc En Ciel means 'the rainbow'. A band that was once hugely popular in the visual kei scene, Malice Mizer, often used French words for the titles of their songs.
