Usually the instruments used were one or two guitars, a bass, a drum kit, and sometimes a piano/organ/synthesizer (synth only in 80's or later)

Acoustic guitar, synth, drums and synth bass.
I assume you are referring to "auto-tune" voice synth and one of the later versions of GarageBand. The closest thing to auto-tune in GarageBand is the tuning enhancement which will lock your voice into the closest pitch. In an audio track, after you have recorded your voice, go to the audio editor (scissors icon) and adjust the parameter "Enhance Tuning" located under the "advanced" section towards the left of the editor.

That's all drum machines and synthesizers, including a synth piano and strings (synth violins and cellos). Although there may be a real electric guitar in there, I doubt it.
Multiple synthesizers layered on top of each other is what gives this sound its distinct sound. You can hear a normal piano on top of a buzzing synth on top of a very sharp sounding synth. Other instruments include.. Various synths (with pitch and tempo automations) cymbal kick snare/hat Bass synth Risers Explosion Sound effects Sampled Vocals "Sometimes I get a good feeling" snap (during breakdown) All of these instruments though are not your regular vanilla and chocolate instruments, Avicii has become very adept at automating filters, Low-frequncy oscillators, gaters, pitch and tempo, you name it, it's probably in this song.
Hey! I know for sure that Madeon uses Poizone for his leads. Its a Fl studio plugin, But its able for mac too. But you can make madeon leads out of any synth that has formants. In massive you can switch from spectrum to formant, and automate it with the LFO.
