ANDROID : an artificial, robotic human --------------- UNIDROIT (Acronym) : The "International Institute for the Unification of Private Law",an independent intergovernmental organisation which studies needs and methods for modernising, harmonising, and coordinating private international law. Pronounced "YOU-nee-droyt".

I disagree: UNIDROIT is indeed an acronym but purposely designed to include the french word "droit" which means law.

droit is pronounced: u ("oo" as in boo) ni ("nee" as in knee) and droit (there is no English equivalent, sounds like "drwaa").

"oo-nee-drwaa"

it should be acceptable to pronounce it uni (as in university) and droit (drwaa). "uni-draaw".

If they had intended the droit to sound as in English, I think they would have opted for naming it Unilaw, but that is not the case.

Please check the following link at wiktionary: http://fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/droit hope this is helpful, regards,
