Just clip the lyre so that the music is positioned within eyesight, usually at the end of the head joint or the very top of the body. The second and more common type of lyre is sometimes referred to as the "flutist's friend." This lyre attaches to the arm of the flute player. The curved plastic part should sit on the forearm and then the strap should be pulled under the arm and looped around the top of the plastic part.
