Its called learning patience. I must admit though, at times I do not learn so well, and I just try to avoid them if possible. I have one of those individuals at work, and I agree it can be very nerve racking and frustrating. Maybe we should prepare some rehearsed excuses to leave the area, without hurting their feelings. For example, "I am so sorry, I can't hear you. I have this terrible ear infection. I am so sorry!!"

Mine is even worse: I work with a lady who talks to her self all the time. We both sit next to each other in an office which is quite and it's extremely disturbing and frustrating that I can't concentrate on my work because I have to listen to her talk to her self all the time. It's not only talk; she complains, moans, constantly angry. My job involves numbers, calculations and I find it very difficult to concentrate. Everyday, as soon as she enters the office she starts complaining, could be about the traffic or anything really; she has an angry nature and constantly talk to herself all day long. I am not sure how to tell her to shut up without making it bad if you know what I mean?:)
