Depending on where the crack is. You can use wood putty to fill in a crack in the body of the guitar but when it comes to any parts that hold any sort of pressure for the strings, this is where you may need professional repair.

Fiberglass patch kits are available at the Auto parts store and work well for most fenders. There can be a lot of work involved getting it to blend and be smoothed out for painting, however its not that difficult if you have a little bit of artistic talent. If the fender is rigid, then JB Weld or Bondo can be used, but if the fender has some flex to it, the repair might crack. If its an older car with metal fenders, its possible to braze some new metal over the damaged area, or take it to a welding shop that has a TIG or MIG welder. Thin metal that is heated can shrink and deform, so before be very cautious about using a torch on a metal fender. On my car door the heat from the Propane Torch caused the door to collapse inward and melted some of the plastic inside. When I repaired the rusted out Tailgate on my Pickup, a MAPP Torch from the Hardware store proved to be a very easy job, far easier then expected. New metal was brazed over the rusted out metal, and a small amount of Bondo on top of that to make it look perfect, and it worked out great. A thin part can be delicate towards heat, and sometimes new replacement fenders can be purchased at a reasonable price.
