Percussion instruments such as timpani, xylophones, marimbas, vibraphones, bells, or chimes which have a definite pitch.
Percussion instruments such as timpani, xylophones, marimbas, vibraphones, bells, or chimes which have a definite pitch.
They have to be hit to make sound.
Some percussion instruments may, and some may not. Usually if something like a drum has tuning equipment, it may be tuned to whatever pitch you desire.
A pitched percussion instrument play numerous pitches (i.e. xylophone), while nonpitched percussion instruments play one pitch (i.e. snare drum).
Depends on the percussion instrument. What kind?
The two types of percussion instruments are pitched percussion and unpitched percussio n; pictch percussion produces a note and an audiable pitch, whereas unpitched percussion merely produces a note.

glockenspiel ,piano,xylophone and many more....................
no, a percussion refers to a section of instruments. for example, there are woodwinds, which you use your breath to makes sounds with. woodwinds normally have a softer, sweet(er) sound to them. then there is brass, which the instruments are made of similar pliable metals (for metal that is, not like rubber) and is powered by your breath and the speed of the vibration of the lips, which causes the adjustable pitch. brass instruments normally sound big and loud, and they are the instruments you would hear at a football game. finally, there is percussion. percussion instruments are powered by (most of the time) quick movements of the lower arm. in the percussion section, you have drums, xylophones, cymbals, bells, and over 1000 other instruments, though probably around 850 of them are hardly recognized.
A percussion instrument with no pitch is (obviously) a percussion instrument, but with no recognisable note in any scale, producing a beat rather than a note. Examples of these instruments are snare drum, bass drum, tomtom drum etc.
The chimes have the highest pitch in the percussion family.
Many mallet percussion instruments, like the bells, xylo, etc. are pitched. The timp is also pitched, and you have to tune that one. The piano is also a pitched percussion instrument. Many people think that the piano is not a percussion instrument, and that it is a string instrument. This is wrong. The piano uses a type of mallet that hits the pitched piano strings making it a percussion instrument. The harpsichord is like a piano, but uses plucking to strike the strings, making it a string instrument. Actually tom toms are tuned to the preference of the artist, however they are not required to be played at a certain pitch.
