Generally a taboo , is something that a particular society as a whole believes , and has agreed through some discussion, is disruptive , or detrimental to the harmony of the people . One example is killing another person , this is why there are such severe penalties for this act. there are many others, some of which are now being reconcidered because there are larger groups of people that believe that these taboos are not harmful to society, however they do not concider their effect on society as a whole, only their own needs.
