How has Avenged Sevenfold impacted the heavy metal world?

Believe it or not, most people start out not liking Avenged Sevenfold. I honestly didn't like them at first and neither did a few people I know. But now I think they're great and I've became a huge fan. They've become a very popular band, and in my opinion, have affected the heavy metal world greatly and strongly.
