1960's music influenced our music today by: * some of the dancing

* rock & roll

* set a trend for today's music

If it wasn's for the 1960's, then we would still be listening to symphonys on the radio all of the time! So the 1960's took a really big part in music today. Elvis was the creator of rock & roll in the 60's.

WOW! I honestly think that "today's music" needs to be better defined. What do you mean by today's music? In all reality, "today's music" is actually very, very old music. There is a lag-time between what the masses hear as "today's music" and what is actually "new music." There is a big difference! New music is never heard until much later and people think their listening to new music when they hear it today.. but in reality there's a large gap between what happens in the evolution in music and what the masses hear. Popular music is very old. New music is hardly ever heard by the masses and is rarely popular.

Can you be more specific in your question?

In the 1960s, people actually became musicians because they were talented and wanted to share that with the world. They created quality songs that had meaning. Now, people pretty much only become singers to get famous. Even if they can't sing at all, there's always autotune, right? So, basically, 60s = good, now = suckish. Go bias!

1960's bands had band members that really knew how to play their interments. Wonderful drum and guitar licks that you don't hear today. Songs had a melody, not just a lot of thumping base. Chicago and Blood Sweat and Tears had members who attended places like Julliard.
