Ragtime however is a composed instrumental genre, primarily for piano and principally created by black Americans, that combines syncopated melodies with the forms of the march; the syncopated style of this genre.

Ragtime music was a strong influence on early jazz at the turn of the century. Ragtime featured syncopated rhythms and lively melodies, which were later incorporated into jazz music. Artists like Scott Joplin and Jelly Roll Morton were instrumental in shaping this fusion of ragtime and early jazz.
If you mean different catagories or styles of jazz there are a few different one that I know of. There are Street Jazz, Mordern Jazz, Lyrical Jazz, Funk Jazz, Ragtime Jazz, Dixieland Jazz, Freestyle Jazz and I'm sure there are many more. I would try to do a little bit of more of research if your really interested in it.
