If you have heavy vaginal bleeding after the first day post-surgery, you should tell your doctor. You should also tell him if you miss your period.

Though it seems that bleeding for long periods of time after tubal ligation surgery, it should not be accompanied with fever, nausea, and pain. This can be an indication of infection, in which case antibiotics are necessary. Ignoring treatment for an infection can lead to permanent and serious complications.

You should only bleed lightly for less than a week post surgery, and without the other symptoms listed above. The pain should only be associated with either gas (in shoulder, abdomen), which resolves on its own after about 2-3 days or less, or directly from the surgical wounds. If the pain radiates and/or you have a fever and/or you can feel heat, with or without bleeding, this may be a sign of infection.

You should raise any concern about post surgery symptoms with your doctor. Your doctor will want to evaluate it and determine the cause and/or treatment.

After I had a tubal ligation my menstrual cycle stayed the same. I starts the same and ends the same. So anyways there wasn't any change at all. I don't know if this helps but I hope this answers your question.

Tubal ligation is purely physical and has no effect on your hormones. The anesthetic may have a minor effect.

A TL should be done immediately after the end of a period and you should be given a pregnancy test before it is done.

If you have not had a period, take a pregnancy test.

I am a midwife and once delivered a baby born after the mother had her tubes tied on day 16 of her cycle. I always think of that egg going through as the clip was put on, going, "Yee-hah, missed me".

I had my surgery done on a Friday and my period came right on time the following monday!

Yes unfortunately you do, I recently had a tubal ligation done a month ago and had a menstrual cycle. The pro side of a tubal is no more pregnancies, the con side of a tubal is you still have a menstrual cycle but no egg can be released. More than likely if you were having regular periods you should still get your menstrual at the same time, if you were having irregular periods you don't know when you'll start your cycle. If you haven't started your period make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible!! Hope this helps!! dp88007
