In 1964, Michael and Marlon joined the Jackson Brothers - a band formed by brothers Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine-as backup musicians playing congas and tamborine. Jackson later began performing backup vocals and dancing; at the age of eight, he and Jermaine assumed lead vocals, and the group's name was changed to The Jackson 5.
Michael was with The Jackson 5 all throughout the recording of his album Off the Wall, performed with them at Motown 25 where he did the infamous moonwalk, they filmed a Pepsi commercial together in 1984 where Michael was seriously burned after a pyrotechnics incident, and then there was The Victory Tour in mid-1984. That was the last performance Michael did with his brothers.
Also known as the Jackson Brothers, Jackson Five, Jackson5, and the Jacksons, the group was active from 1966 to 1990.
Michael Jackson joined the Jackson 5 at the age of 5 and left when he was about 20, so he was with them for around 15 years.
They were together for 25 years from 1964 ~ 1989
The Jackson 5 was around, as part of a major record label, as both The Jackson 5 and The Jacksons, from 1969 to 1989. So about 20 years. but they were not popular for that entire time.

for about 20 years
All 4 of them
Most people beleive that Michael did it alone, but he actually sang it with his brothers.
In my opinion his father was very greedy and when he heard Michael sing he knew that Michael was good and he will make a lot of money off of him so, he forced Michael to sing the lead to the Jackson 5.
Michael Jackson was the lead singer because his father created the band The Jackson 5. His father noticed Michael liked to sing, and that was how he was the lead singer.
Maybe you're thinking of Michael Jackson and paul McCartney. They sing "say say say" "the man" and "the girl is mine"???
No.Only his brothers
