How long does it take for a band to make an album?

On the average 1 to 3 days.

It depends on the concept you have and the resources available.

If you need to use a lot location this could make it longer. If it is a simple video with one location you could do it in one day.

After the video is shot you will need to have it edited. This can also vary but for most productions it should be done within two weeks.

It depends on the band. I've heard of some bands taking up to three years to write the songs and then spending another five months in the studio to record and produceit.

The shortest I have ever heard of a professionalalbum being made in was in 8 days. The pop punk band Stellar Kart wrote all of their songs AND recorded it in just those 8 days! Their website says so.

For an unprofessional CD done by a local band,an album can be recorded in just one day or lessin a local music studio (with songs that the band previously wrote). It's done fast and relatively cheap, but the production quality is low in this case.

It depends on what is in the music video as to the length of how long it took to make it. The more imaginative the idea, the longer it will take. Like the Strawberry Swing Music video by Coldplay must have taken a long time to make with all of the full scale chalk drawings.

Sometimes it takes a few years. Some musicians are so meticulous that every note has to be just right. Anything less just won't do for them.

Sometimes it takes an hour or two. I'm not sure if it was Thelonias Monk or not, maybe so, but at one recording session, the music went from the musician into the microphone, through the wires and system to the soundboard, and straight to the CD. Done. Fantastic sound, too. Look it up. However, that's only the recording. The producing part does take more time.
