His first adult sweetheart was Dixie Locke, whom he took to the junior and senior proms and dated from 1953-1955. He wanted to marry her, but she didn't want any part of a life filled with travel and movies and concerts. They broke up and she finished high school while he pursued his entertainment career. After that, he had trouble with monogomous dating and usually had two or three at a time throughout his entire life. He is said to have dated a Biloxi girl June Juanico, (who he met at his concert in Biloxi) from June 26, 1955 until she broke it off in March, 1957, "because he broke his vow". This is likely to be true since in this time period he was linked with many other women, including another Memphis girl Barbara Heard, and country singer Anita Carter .Somewhere in here he was also linked with Natalie Wood. While dating Barbara, he was known to date a Las Vegas showgirl named Dorothy Harmony who spent a month at Graceland. He also asked Wanda Jackson "to be his girl" in "the early part of 1956". Also in 1956, he was associated with Las Vegas showgirls Kathy Gabriel and Sandy Preston, singer Kitty Dolan, other Las Vegas girls Kate Wheeler, and Sharon Whiley. Later in the year, he was seen with Marilyn Evans who is the young woman on the piano of the famous "Million Dollar Quartet" photograph taken in December, 1956. Others are Yvonne Lime a co-start from Loving You, released in 1957; as well as Ann Neyland, his co-star from Jailhouse Rock , released in 1957. He is said to have dated Anita Wood "for about five years" sometime in this time period, probably 1957-1962, so she's in there somewhere, too. When he was with Linda Thompson he was pretty exclusive for a year, but after a year of having her with him day and night in Las Vegas, he finally sent her home to Memphis; Thompson said in a Larry King interview, "so he could see other women." Others in the 1970s included Maleesa Blackwood from Memphis, glamour girls Mindy Miller and Ann Pennington. In 1975 he was dating Playboy Playmate Sheila Ryan. Thompson left in 1976 and then Ginger Alden was his last love interest from 1976-1977. She claimed Elvis had proposed to her and they were going to announce the engagement and get married.
