Catch A Falling Star, written by Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss, and recorded by Perry Como, was the first ever record certified by the Recording Industry Association of American (RIAA) as selling over a million copies, and therefore the very first Gold Record was presented to Perry on 5th March, 1958.
Note that there were many records that sold over a million copies, even dating back to the 1920s, but Catch A Falling Star was the first 'Certified' Gold.

Many consider The Beatles the greatest band of all time. Surprisingly, the band didn't win too many awards for their work, but they did win a grammy for album of the year with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and had quite a few other nominations. The band had a total of 27 #1 hits. What's really impressive is how they accomplished all of what they did in only about 7 years.
The Beatles were nominated for 7 Emmey Awards. They won 5 of the 7, all of which were for "A&E in Concert: Paul McCartney in Red Square."
To win Grammy s and sell millions of records
The first British act to win a Grammy Award was The Beatles, who received their first Grammy in 1965. They won Best New Artist and Best Performance by a Vocal Group for their album "A Hard Day's Night." This marked a significant moment in music history, as The Beatles went on to become one of the most influential bands in the world.
