In my experience, 1 point may be OK. 2 or more points brings attention. Over 4 points, it will cost you extra for an insurance policy.
Points are a state issue. It matters where you live, so we can't answer this.
It means you have been given traffic tickets for your driving habits. Depending on the laws in your state, once you reach a certain number of points you will loose your license or possibly be required to take a defensive driving class.
Typically, states keep driving records in only their state. However, this doesn't preclude someone from getting your driving record from Colorado. What your IL driving record would indicate is that you once help a license in Colorado (if you were driving under a Colorado license at the time. If you have an IL license and got the ticket in Colorado, then yes, it will show up on your record.)
6 points
No, you don't have to, but if you take the responsibility it is your license that will get the points placed against it.
You get the regular points and fines for the speeding tickets, but you have to take a $100 driver safety course and restart your provisional year of driving. If you get a point carrying ticket during the new year of provisional driving, your license will be suspended. So stop speeding.
3 or more traffic violations or 3 points or more on driving record
