Compared to whom or what? Modern man or other composers back then? He was a child prodigy, so carted around salons in his own country then Europe, paraded like a performing monkey, rather like Clara Weiss (later Schumann). He could do a lot of things at an early age, not just music. He was a socialite, despite his obvious behavioral "differences"; some today said it was "Tourette's Syndrome"; no one will know for sure. He was obsessive about his work, but that is not so unusual for a highly "creative" type of person. Despite the huge talent and recognition,k he died early of very poor health, not helped by the squalid home conditions, psrtying, heavy drinking and unreliable nature of paid employment and social favour. WATCH "Amadeus", the film based on the Peter Schaeffer play. It's NOT GOSPEL, but it will give you a very clear idea of what his music meant and the impact he and his music had on the world AT THAT TIME.
