It is difficult to answer this question, since we do not know everything about a celebrity's private life, plus what they claim may not be what they really did. In the case of Whitney Houston, she grew up in the church, and attended often with her family; her mother was a gospel singer and she learned gospel before any other kind of music. But at some point, probably when she moved to New York and began her music career, her involvement with the church seemed to diminish, and her work in the music industry took control of her life. As she became more famous and had more hit songs, she began to experiment with (and ultimately became addicted to) drugs and alcohol. We have evidence that she attended church sometimes, and had friends who were ministers, but she does not seem to have remained close to the faith of her childhood; she may have prayed now and then, but there is no evidence that she prayed on a regular basis, nor attended worship services. Perhaps if she had, her life might have turned out differently, but there is no way to know.
