each eighth note gets one beat. However, when you play in 6-8 time, the eighth notes are divided into groups of three. If you are tapping your foot, you tap on beat 1 and on beat four of each measure. Tap on the bold number. 1-2-3-4-5-6. For an example of 6-8 time, listen to "Piano Man," by Billy Joel.
A quaver is half a beat; a crotchet is one beat; a minim is two beats; a semi-breve is four beats.

That would depend on the time signature What if we do not know what the time signature is? The question we were given is how many beats in a double dotted quaiver?

A dot that follows a note adds 1/2 of the value of that note. Where a quarter note would be worth 1 beat in 4/4 time, a dotted quarter note would be worth 1 1/2 beets. A dotted half note in the same time signature would go from 2 beets, to 3. (adding 1/2 of the value of a half note) A dotted eighth note would be 1/8 plus 1/16 added to it and gives the rhythm a swing feel.
beats me but it would be alot

In 4/4 (common) time it receives one beat.quaver = eighth note; semi-quaver = sixteenth note.minims = half notes (two crochets); semibreves = whole-notes (four crotchets)source: http://www.shanemcdonald.org/music/learn-types-of-music-notes.html
