David Marks, the original rhythm guitarist with The Beach Boys, who joined the group at the age of 13, played throughout the first four albums with The Beach Boys, on songs such as "Surfin' Safari", "409", "Surfin' USA", and many other songs. The majority of the solos, however, were overtaken by Carl.
"Catch A Wave" came first. "Sidewalk Surfin'" was a sort-of parody of it, about skateboarding.
