Schecter C1-Elites usually sold new from between $549. and $599. There are 3 models, white, black and antique, all with Abalone binding around the body, neck and head stock with either a "Tribal" marker or "Diamond" type Abalone inlay at the 12th fret. The last models, I believe, where made in 2007 or 2008. After 2005 the "Diamond Series" logo on the head stock was placed in smaller size under the Schecter name instead of long ways underneath and models up to 2005 had two small diamond inlays at the 12th fret. Most owners agree that the models made after 2005 where crafted better. The guitar is not only an excellent instrument, it is a work of superior craftmanship. I own two black 2007 models. One of them I upgraded with two Seymore Duncan P-Rails and had the volume and tone pots upgraded to both "Push/Pull to change pickup settings. The other one will be upgraded as well in the near future. The "Duncan Designed" humbuckers that the C1-Elite comes with are pretty good, offering a great range of tones. However the SD P-Rails offer much better response and a wider selection of sounds without the volume drop of the "Designed" pickups.
Ibanez makes some decent 7 strings for not too much money, like the Ibanez RGA7 and S7420 for less than $700 (u.s.) but Ibanez pick ups are rather weak and muddy. For roughly the same price you can get a much better 7 string from schecter, like the Damien Elite 7 with the world renowned emg 81-7 and 85-7 pick ups. or if you save your money a little longer, you can get what is by far the best 7 string under the sun, the Schecter C-7 ATX with stock Seymour duncan blackouts (active), which goes for about $850 new.
