How much does a guitarist make on average?

ANSWERDepending on if you make or fix custom guitars. If the repair that is made is good, then it will get paid better then someones who wasn't a guitar tech COULD make up to 100 grand yearly depending on the quality of there guitar repairs... a custom guitar repair has to be good.. they repair one of a kind guitars and they could make up to 300 grand for just regular one of a kind guitars or even up to a million for fixing real celebrities guitars... they wont want Joe from high school wood shop they want Jim from Guitar tech school with lots of credit to his name..

If you're a professional union player, scale (in NYC, for one) is $300.00 for a four-hour gig. But if you're a first-class, top-ten guitar-player rock star, you're looking at maybe $50,000 a show -- or even more.

I actually lost around $8.000.00 last year playing guitar, which isn't that bad. It actually went to buy new equipment and since I reside in Pittsburgh, PA, they do not like to pay entertainers other than one free iron city beer from the tap, but maybe someday they'll offer me a guiness!!!

It is his /her choice. ie to buy the wood of the correct thickness or reduce it themselves. tuning pegs might be 'made' in house for a classical but usually bought in (metal) for steel strung acoustic or electric

It really depends on how popular said artist is. Most of the money that artists make is from either Merchandise sales or ticket sales at concerts. The average musician/band makes around $500 every six months from Album sales. But if they do a show, usually they can get a few hundred for a night depending on how many people show up.
