Not much. It depends on the practicum. If you teach privately you MIGHT make a little over 30K a year. That is weighted upon really hustling for new students ALL the time. Add on to that the expense of renting a place to teach, which might entail a bigger apartment or room in a store. Sounds doable right? Wrong. You don't get insurance provided for you. If you go this route don't bank on holding a full student load year round...in the summer you will have to curtail your operations not by your own choosing. To succeed you will have to put up with a lot of stuff. You are in essence running your own business. You can also teach in a public school setting. The salary all depends on your location; but it is a safe bet to say slightly over 30K is standard. Perk is you get the summers off and benefits. How do I know? I went to music school for a while and did the teaching thing. Bottom line is to many kids are graduating with a degree in music and there are little not no jobs for you.
