The average speed for most residential areas is 60km/h (37mph), in some areas it can be 40km/h (24mph). The average speed on the freeways/highways/motorways is between 120km/h (74mph) to 80km/h (50mph).

Depends on how much faster you were doing over the set speed limit and the environment (rural as opposed to a residential neighbourhood). In some cases if you are doing more than 50km over the speed limit they would simply arrest you at the same time.
