Well it all depends if people like the music that you sing. Otherwise, you could be spending more than you make. In the beginning, you have to spend a lot on advertising and to make yourself well known. But it could be a LOT if you get well known.

IDK But it really differs if you're:

a.) amateur as in you have NEVER had any pure experience

b.) location. If you're in the U.S.A it could be high considering a.) but if you're in different countries (like me I'm from Philippines) it could really differ

c.)not noobish. Some newbies tend to go with fake labels which they (the amateur singer) might think the money offer is high but it actually is not. Try labels like: Columbia Records, Hollywood records, BigMachine etc.

Young people who are exploring the world of work should keep something in mind. There is no rule that says certain jobs will get you a fixed amount of income, or even any income at all.Whatever the job, unless you are talking about very high level positions, there will be a wide variety of incomes received by people doing them. Some singers volunteer, others struggle to make anything at all, and the very few make more money than any individual could possibly need, and hundreds of times over. Who makes more money is not necessarily dependent on the amount of talent. Performing arts is a very tough way to go for most people. You see and hear about some of the big names out there, and some of them are alarmingly young.But breaking into that profession is a one in a million proposition.
