I've been baking for several years and I can tell you it is one of the lowest paying trades out there. You can expect anywhere between 15-20k starting out, then, if your lucky and keep at it for 5+ years, maybe you'll squeak up to a liveable wage.

You'll work unholy hours(3am start), meet some fantastically sleazy 'head bakers' and be on your feet all day, and at the end of the month, probably won't be able to pay your bills.

As for the previous poster, I'll assume he forgot the 'n' between the a and the k.

The food industry is a joke of a living, don't believe all the celebrity "top chef/baker" hype. You have to do it because you love it or possibly because your insane.
