It all depends...I play Saxophone for weddings and corporate events. I get paid around $175 to $250 an hour with the average gig lasting around 2hrs. However, I only have around 1 to 2 gigs a month. Guess you could say I'm a part time musician. I do have friends that work in the music industry full time and have decent lives making around 40k to 50k. Unless you get "discovered" or become the next great one hit wonder music can be a very tricky business to base your livelihood on. I always say, do it for fun, for passion but have a day job too so you won't be stressed...:) Just my perspective...Make music, inspire others...
It depends on how well-known of a musician you are. If the drummer has had his own band before that was reasonably successful he would make more money than a brand new drummer. But they probably make about 2 or 3 thousand per concert, which adds up if they're a regular crew member.
