Most will agree that they have too much power in influencing law and governmental decisions.

As a couple of examples (out of thousands):

Walmart openly admitted at a stock holders meeting that their political contributions resulted in their company being specifically excluded from some mandatory health insurance laws.

Monsanto Corporation has lobbied for, as well as used its money and influence to see that stock holders, former employees are placed in government positions for the purposes of ensuring its genetically modified food patents are enforced as well as ensuring that the US Government allows the sales of its product without disclosure. Almost every other nation on the planet bans genetically modified foods, or at least requires its disclosure (which results in very low sales).
