What year did led zeppelin brake up?

Led Zeppelin were active from 1968 to 1980. John Bonham died 'from asphyxiation' by inhaling his own vomit after drinking heavily. After his death, on the 4th of December 1980, the remaining band members released a statement which read... "We wish it to be known that the loss of our dear friend, and the deep sense of undivided harmony felt by ourselves and our manager, have led us to decide that we could not continue as we were".

How old are the led zeppelin members?

Jimmy Page (Guitar) is 65 Robert Plant (Vocals) is 61 John Paul Jones (Bass/Keyboard) is 63 John Bonham (Drummer) died in 1980

How many of the Led Zeppelin band members are alive?

No, John Bonham is dead, if they lose 1 member, they are officially dead.I assume that you are asking whether or not Led Zeppelin are still together. If so, no, they are not, as they disbanded on December 4, 1980, after the death of drummer/percussionist John Henry Bonham (A.K.A. Bonzo) on September 25, 1980. Bonham apparently died of asphyxiation after consuming 18-24 measures of over-proof vodka the previous night. In 1985, the surviving members of Led Zeppelin reformed to perform at Live-Aid, with Phil Collins & The Late Tony Thompson ( Ex- Power Station ) replacing John Bonham on drums. Then in 1987, Zeppelin reformed again to perform at Atlantic Records Anniversary , with John Bonham,s son Jason, replacing his dad on drums. The band then performed at Jason Bonham,s wedding several years later. Apparently, there have been rumours circulating regarding a Led Zeppelin reunion for several years. The reunion was a one -time performance to celebrate the life of Atlantic Records founder, Ahmet Ertegun, who died in late 2007 after hitting his head while attending a Rolling Stones concert. The success of this Led Zeppelin performance fueled rumours of a new studio Cd & tour, but despite the various media reports regarding this new Zeppelin Cd & tour, it seems that it will not happen, as Robert Plant has allegedly stated that he does not plan to do any touring for the next two years, having toured with country/Bluegrass vocalist/musician Allison Krauss, in support of their Cd Raising Sand.

Did Led Zeppelin ever play another show after John Bonham died?

Probably not considering Robert Plant is touring with Allison Krauss and he said it needs to be "magical"... they are getting old too.

Was Led Zeppelin the first rock band?

definitely not. rock and roll has deeper routes that go way before led zeppelin was around. rock and roll originated as an alteration of blues. if you listen to some old rock and roll songs, they sound very blues oriented

Led Zeppelin song when your old and your eyes are dimm and they're ain't no old ship going to happen again?

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp

Who wrote and originally sung Stairway to Heaven?

The song was written by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant and released on the Zeppelin Four album. However the original intro to the song was written by Spirit in 1967. The song toured with Led Zeppelin for a short period before they ultimately fizzled out and Zeppelin became the band that all rock bands are compared, to this day. I believe Plant and Page had authorization to use the intro and were obviously heavily influenced by Spirit as well as several old Blues singers.
