The band itself first performed together in April 1970.
The four principal members of the band were born between 1945 and 1950:
Bjorn Ulvaeus, 25 April 1945
Anni-Frid Lyngstad, 15 November 1945
Benny Andersson, 16 December 1946
Agnetha Flatskog, 5 April 1950
It depends what you mean by famous. All four members were well known performers in Sweden before they started working together in 1970. Their first minor international hit came in 1972 but their big breakthrough came in April 1974 with their Eurovision win and their worldwide hit song "Waterloo". In April 1974, Agnetha had just turned 24, Benny and Frida were both 28 and Bjorn was about to turn 29.
I reckon they came out in the 1970's. In the 70's they made the song 'Mamma Mia'. So they were probably in their 20's. Now, they'd probably be in their early to mid 60's.
