Love thy neighbor as thyself, (or respect others). If this basic belief is not held by both parties, there cannot be real communication. In the first instance it must be acknowledged that religion and greed has been the ultimate reasons for the animosity and intolerance plaguing the world today. The solution is the same as in the case of a person who is afflicted with an addiction having to first admit that he/she has such a problem before the rehabilitation could begin. The first step towards the positive influence upon communication barriers is absolutely dependant on the ability to rehabilitate religious leaders from their addiction to autocratic and supremacist demeanors. Religious leaders must be compelled to respect the ultimate human right of an individual to choose what he/she wants to believe. No individual should be allowed to force their religious beliefs upon others. No individual should be permitted to engage in the persecution and terrorization of others because of their beliefs. Religion can only remove the communication barriers when their leaders become exemplars who consistently demonstrate the highest levels of empathy, selflessness, decorum, equity and righteousness in their interactions with everyone regardless of gender, complexion, age, relation, class, beliefs and physical characteristics.
